Govt’s revenue collection exceeds to Rs 142.1 billion

The government’s revenue collection has exceeded to Rs 142.1 billion, compared to the target of Rs 136.2 billion, during the first five months of the current fiscal year 2014/15 (mid-July to mid-December).

The government has collected Rs 128.41 billion from taxes and the rest was from non-tax revenue, according to Ministry of Finance.

During the period, Rs 46.5 billion was collected from value added tax (VAT), the highest contributor, while Rs 30.37 billion was collected from customs duty, Rs 30.37 billion from customs duty, Rs 19.28 billion as income tax and Rs 10.51 billion from registration fees, vehicle tax and other taxes.
