Minister for Industry, Mahesh Basnet, has said that the government would determine the price of construction materials within two days as entrepreneurs have been fixing the retail price in an arbitrary manner.
Presenting certificates to participants of a three-month hair cutting training organized by the Bhaktapur Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) here today, Minister Basnet said, discussion would be held with the hardware entrepreneurs regarding price determination today itself.
He said the retail price of construction materials– brick, sand, aggregates and corrugated zinc sheets, among others should be fixed as the hardware entrepreneurs started to sell the construction materials in retail after fixing the price in a monopolized manner.
Stating that there would be no comprise on the quality of construction materials, the Industry Minister said, “Comprise on the quality of construction materials is like of putting our generation at risk.”
He stressed the need of distributing relief to quake-survivors through one-door policy, pointing out the need of carrying out reconstruction task joining hands by government, private sector and people.
Similarly, BCCI President Prajjal Jonche said that the government should support the hardware entrepreneurs as the recent quake has caused property worth billions of rupees in this sector.
Likewise, Director General at the Department of Small and Cottage Industries, Narayan Bidari, Chief District Officer Anil Kumar Thakur, Rotary Club of Bhaktapur Chairman Radhe Shyam Suwal, among others said that employment should be provided to quake-affected youths after providing different types of income-generating trainings.
