Minister for Commerce and Supplies, Sunil Bahadur Thapa has said that the government will take action against its officials involved in distributing substandard rice provided by the World Food Programme (WFP) to the earthquake victims.
Minister Thapa said so in a meeting of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of the Legislature-Parliament held on Monday.
“We have already begun diplomatic process to take action against the WFP,” said Thapa, “In terms of the officials of the Nepal government we have directed their respective office to commence action against their officials.”
The Commerce and Supplies Minister further informed the PAC that the government has urged the resident WFP representative to take action against Nepali officials at the WFP.
The food provided by WFP in Gorkha, Nepalgunj among other districts were found to be of substandard quality.
