The Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) on Thursday directed the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation (MoCTCA) to suspend Nepal Tourism Board (NTB)’s Corporate Service Manager Anil Das.
Issuing a press statement, CIAA said Das was recommended for suspension as the Commission is investigating into alleged financial anomalies involving him.
NTB’s Executive Director Subas Nirola is already suspended after the Parliament’s Public Accounts Committee (PAC) directed the government to suspend him in light of several embezzlement charges.
The recommendation for Das’ suspension has been made as per Section 19(3) of CIAA Act, 1991.
If allowed to work in the position, “the accused may conceal or destroy the evidence and adversely affect the action being undertaken by the Commission,” said the anti-corruption constitutional body.
Rs 9.75 mln collected
Meanwhile, the Commission said NTB collected a sum of Rs 9.75 million, embezzled by 49 staff.
CIAA had directed the Board to collect the money, which was taken as an advance, but not settled yet.
