The government of Nepal has established, for the first time, a National Conservation Award starting this year, according to a statement on Monday.
The award is provided to an individual or organization that has made exceptional contribution to conservation, including research and technology development, for the socio-economic development of Nepal.
The first recipient of the National Conservation Award is Mr. Baban Prasad Kayastha from Rautahat district.
The award includes a cash amount of Rs 151,000.
Mr. Kayastha will be formally awarded on the occasion of National Conservation Day on Tuesday, 23 September, 2014.
