Germany has welcomed the promulgation of the new constitution in Nepal on Tuesday.
Foreign Minister Frank Walter Steinmeier of Germany hailed the new constitution promulgated by the Constituent Assembly in Nepal.
Issuing a statement today, Minister Frank Walter Steinmeier said, “I welcome the promulgation of the new constitution in Nepal by the constituent assembly. This is an important step toward reconciliation and further democracy.”
In the statement, Steinmeier said the new constitution has laid the foundation of democracy and the rule of law which provides the basis for a positive economic and political future.
Meanwhile, Germany also pledged its continuous support for Nepal throughout its economic development and expressed hopes that ongoing violent protests in the Tarai region would be resolved through dialogues.
Germany has contributed over 90 million Euros from public funds and private donations for the reconstruction of public facilities and housing which were destroyed by the devastating earthquake.
