The health condition of Ganga Maya Adhikari, who has been staging a hunger strike for continuous 363 days, is deteriorating day by day, according to medical professionals involved in her treatment.
Adhikari’s health condition is deteriorating due to lack of food intake, Bir Hospital Director Dr Swayam Prakash Pandit said.
Her blood pressure, nerve and respiratory system, however, are in normal condition, he added.
Adhikari was fed nutrients by making an artificial passage in her thigh for four weeks which has been discontinued since Wednesday.
“Her body has shriveled to the extent that her nerves are not detected, so we are not able to feed her total parenteral nutrition (TPN) nor give her saline water,” Pandit said.
Adhikari is unable to speak, according to Director Pandit.
Adhikari and her late husband Nanda Prasad Adhikari had launched the hunger strike demanding action against the murderers of their son Krishna Prasad Adhikari (17) who was killed a decade ago in Chitwan.
Nanda Prasad Adhikari died on October 22 in course of hunger strike.
