After the huge success of Galaxy J1, Samsung Electronics introduced its two latest smartphones Galaxy J5 and Galaxy J7 in the Nepali market on August 16. Like their predecessor – Galaxy J1, these mid-range smartphones claim to have the combination of powerful technology and innovative features based on deep consumer insight.
“The launch of Galaxy J5 and Galaxy J7 aims to give consumers options in the mid-range price segment. With optimal features and great value proposition for our consumers, the new devices will offer an uncompromised smartphone experience that will bring a lot of joy in the hand of smartphone user at very competitive prices,” said Pranaya Ratna Sthapit, Head – HHP Division at Samsung Nepal.
Galaxy J5 features 5-inch HD Super AMOLED display (720×1280). Equipped with 1.2GHz Quad Core Processor, the handset boasts the rear AF camera of 13MP with LED flash. Likewise, the front facing camera is of 5MP with LED flash. According to Sthapit, this is the first time Samsung has introduced LED flash in the front camera. It is packed with 1.5GB RAM and 8GB ROM which can be expanded up to 128GB. Its battery capacity is 2600mAh. The smartphone is priced at Rs 21,900.
Similarly, G7 comes with 5.5- inch HD Super AMOLED display (720×1280). It sports a 13MP AF rear camera and 5MP front camera with LED flash. The model runs on 1.5 GHz Octa-Core processor and is powered by 3000 mAh battery. It is packed with 1.5GB RAM and 16GB ROM which can be expanded up to 128GB. The handset comes at the price of Rs 25,900.
According to Sthapit, both smartphones come with anti-smudge anodised CMF coating which gives the devices a premium and stylish feel. Both models support dual- SIM and operate on Android 5.1 Lollipop and are available in three colours — gold, black and white. These slim and light handsets feature exclusive to Galaxy devices such as ultra-power saving mode and easy mode. Besides these, the smartphones has advanced selfie functions including Palm Recognition and Beauty Face Mode for better selfie experience. The other features of camera include Auto, Beauty Face, Continuous Shot, Interval Shot, Panaroma, Pro, Selfie Sports, Sound and Shot and Wide selfie. In the same way, it boasts proprietary Sound Alive technology that provides a holistic and immersive entertainment experience.
As these smartphones come as an extension of the largest selling smartphone in Nepal — J1, Sthapit believes they will garner a similar response from customers.
According to him, the devices come with a user-friendly design philosophy to enable users with comfortable grip while operating or doing multi-tasking functions. “These are the perfect models for those who want good smartphones at a very reasonable price,” he opined. He is of the belief that the handsets will be well-liked by the Nepali consumers.

This is the reason we have a huge legacy and are world leaders for many years.” According to him, the strength of Samsung is that it has got the exclusive technology which offers most of the features for the first time in the industry.
