Four killed in separate road mishaps

At least four persons were killed in various road accidents in different places of the country on Friday and Saturday.

Police said a person was killed in each of the road accidents in Doti, Kavre and Sarlahi districts today. Another person died in a vehicle accident in Okhaldhunga yesterday.

Lokesh Bahadur Bohara (25) of Syadi-6, Bajhang died while he fell off the roof of a running bus (Na 4 Kha 4447) in Shreekot-2 of Doti district today.

The bus conductor accidentally fell from the roof at around 5:30 am today.

Seriously injured in the accident, he was rushed to the Baitadi District Hospital, where he breathed his last during the course of treatment.

Police confiscated the bus and nabbed its driver for further investigation.

Likewise, 18-year-old Sukit Shakya died as a passenger bus (Na 5 Kha 3693) hit the motorbike he was riding on (Ba 60 Pa 3131) in Panauti of Kavrepalanchok today.

Shakya’s two-wheeler was hit by the bus in Panauti Municipality-1 at around 12:30 pm today.

A permanent resident of Banepa Municipality-8 of the district, Shakya died on the spot.

Police are looking into the case after confiscating the bus and nabbing its driver.

Also on Saturday, an unidentified man was killed in a mini-truck accident in Lalbandi of Sarlahi.

The man who appears to be in his 50s was killed in the accident in Lalbandi-5 at around 6 am today.

Driver of the vehicle (Na 4 Kha 6840) is on the run and police are searching him.

Meanwhile, 18-year-old Jeevan Kumar Rai was killed in a tractor accident in Thakle of Okhaldhunga district on Friday.

Rai from Sisneri-5 of the district died on the spot when the tractor (Na 3 Ta 6858) lost its control at around 2 pm yesterday.

The vehicle’s driver Bir Bahadur Rana and another Ek Raj Rai were injured in the accident.

Police said they are undergoing treatment at the Janasewa Hospital, in Lekhai-2 of Udayapur district.

They are in normal condition, police added.
