The Tenzing Hillary Everest Marathon Everest Marathon kicked off from Gorakshep on Thursday, 29 May, 2014. It is the world’s highest and the most challenging marathon, starting from the Khumbu Ice Fall at Everest Base Camp (5,364 meters above sea level) to Namche Bazar (3,440 meters above sea level). Due to heavy snowfall, the starting point was changed from the Khumbu Ice Fall at Everest Base Camp to Gorakshep (5164 meter above sea level).

Sudip Kulung Rai from Solukhumbu won the marathon, completing the 42 km long race in 3 hours, 52 minutes and 9 seconds.
