DSP Tamang caught “red-handed with bribe”

The Commission for the Investigation of Absuse of Authority (CIAA) on Thursady arrested Deputy Superintendent of Police Ramesh Tamang red-handed while taking bribe.

The anti-graft body had arrested the senior official of Nepal Police from the New Baneshwar-based Hotel Everest, and Rs 50,000 from his possession that he allegedly received as kickback from a service seeker with an assurance to settle a police case.

The bank notes of Rs 1000 denumeration were first kept in the CIAA record before they were given to the official on duty as kickback.

DSP Tamang is the in-charge of the Metropolitan Police Circle at New Baneshwar.

After his arrest, DSP Tamang said that he was framed. He claimed that he had borrowed the amount from the person, who posed himself as a service seeker.

The CIAA has not disclosed the identity of the service seeker.
