The distribution of identity cards for the sufferers of the massive earthquake and the aftershocks have started in Dolakha district from Tuesday with the VDC secretaries reaching out to villages for the same.
The distribution of identity cards and Rs 15,000 pledged by the government was delayed earlier after the secretaries put forth various demands.
The secretaries went to the villages to distribute the identity cards after holding discussion with the local administration. The identity cards were distributed at Shailungeshwor, Pawati, Fasku, Jiri municipality, Jafe, Hawa, Gaurishanker, Malu, Bhirkot, Alampu, Kalinchowk, Chilankha, Khare, Khopachangu, Kabre, Chyama, Shyama, Lami Danda, Lapilang, Bigu, Sahare, Melung, Chetrapa, Danda Kharka, and Sundrawoti among 26 VDCs, according to Raghunath Mahat, District Development Committee’s Planning Officer.
Mahat said VDC Secretaries would soon distribute identity cards in other remaining VDCs. He talked of some difficulties the administration came across as choppers were necessary to ferry the ID cards in some remote places.
Bhirkot VDC Secretary Prem Prakash Khatri said the locals were provided with the identity cards after being identified as quake sufferers.
However, Lapilang VDC Secretary said the distribution of identity cards would take some more time in his VDC. He wanted to remain unnamed.
