As many as 59 families of flood victims in Jogibudha VDC in Dadeldhura district are waiting for resettlement for last six years.
The then Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal’s promises were still not implemented yet, informed Nara Bahadur Bam, Coordinator of Flood Victim Resettlement Struggle Committee.
According to a Cabinet decision then, victims should have been resettled in Hasuliya of Kailali. But, internal disputes among officials in the Urban Development Division Office obstructed the resettlement plan, claimed Bam.
Land Revenue, Survey and Urban Development Offices of Kailali district had held onsite monitoring of the area to settle the victims there during the premiership of Babu Ram Bhattarai. But, the plan could not get actualised for necessary fund was not released on time.
Subsequently, Rs 10.6 million allocated for the project returned to the state coffer.
Advocate Tilak Adhikari who has been advocating on the issue for a long period said the victims could not provided with resettlement facilities as every new government takes new decisions.
Victims on Sunday submitted a memorandum regarding the issue to Assistant Chief District Officer of Dadeldhura, Karunakar Awasthi.
They have warned of stern protests if the flood victims are not resettled soon.
