Minister for Information and Communications Dr Minendra Rijal on Saturday insisted corrugated zinc sheets were top priority for resettling the survivors of the earthquake.
Minister Rijal assigned with the task of inspecting the quake affected areas in Kavrepalanchowk spoke with the National News Agency (RSS) and said that supplying the zinc sheets remained the only option for resettlement of the people in the affected districts.
Minister Rijal also instructed the local body representatives to immediately distribute corrugated zinc sheets equivalent to the money obtained from the government.
The entourage accompanying Minister Rijal visited Bhakunde, Methinkot. Patlekhet, Kanpur, Suryakharka, Pokharinarayansthan, Chapakhori and Mangaltar including other VDCs in Kavrepalanchowk district and inquired of the rescue and relief works.
On the occasion, Kavrepalanchowk’s Local Development Officer Chiranjibi Timalsena said tarpaulin sheets and food commodities obtained from the government and various organizations were being distributed among the quake survivors.
Timalsena added the villagers would soon be provided identity cards and corrugated zinc sheets on the basis of the cards before the arrival of monsoon.
Nepali Congress Kavrepalanchowk President and former lawmaker Shiva Prasad Humagain called on the government to dispatch technicians for an appraisal of the scenario citing many settlements needed to be shifted due to the threat of landslides. RSS
