CIAA officer arrested red-handed with bribe

The Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) on Saturday arrested Section Officer Khimananda Gyawali of its Eastern Regional Office Dhankuta red- handed while taking bribe.

The anti-graft body arrested Gyawali while receiving Rs 150,000 in cash from Bhakta Bahadur Bhattarai, a former VDC Secretary of Tankhuwaga Bish, claiming to settle a land-related case filed at the CIAA.

Gyawali was caught while taking bribe from Bhattarai at former´s residence in Dhankuta Municipality-6.

A CIAA team led by Police Inspector Punyaraj Malla was mobilized three days ago based on a tip-off that Gyawali had asked for bribe from Bhattarai.

Meanwhile, the arrestee has claimed he was ensnared in a planed manner to defame the CIAA. RSS
