The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) arrested 12 persons, including Ram Dutta Bhatta, the acting chief at the Department of Transport Management (DoTM) and three other officials, on the charge of corruption on Sunday.
The constitutional anti-graft body arrested Bhatta along with Section Officers Rameshwor Aryal, Bal Kumar Khatidawa and Tirtha Raj Gautam on the corruption charge while issuing and renewing driving license and route permits, among others.
Issuing a statement on Sunday, the CIAA said that eight persons besides these government officials others also have been arrested in the same case.
“We arrested all of them based on various complaints,” said CIAA assistant Spokesperson Keshav Ghimire adding, “All of them are in the custody for further investigation.”
The eight others arrested are-Tek Bahadur Maharjan and Bishnu Bahadur Thapa (Owners of Manakamana Photocopy Centre), Anil Kumar Pandey (Owner of Evergreen Photocopy Centre), Bikram BC and Bishnu Bahadur Thing (Owner Lekhapadhi Manch), Devraj Lamichaane, Sanukaji Deshar and Bishnu Basnet.
