CIAA files graft case against 14 PAF officers

The Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) on Wednesday filed a charge sheet at the Special Court (SC), Kathmandu, against 14 people including Executive Director of Poverty Alleviation Fund (PAF) Rajbabu Shrestha in connection with‪ misappropriating‬ and ‪embezzlement‬ of around Rs.27.8m government budget allocated for poverty alleviation.

Issuing a press statement today, the anti-graft body said that it filed a case against the 14 accused as per Sec 8(e) of Prevention of ‪Corruption‬ Act 2002 as they were found to have embezzled the money during the fiscal year 2066/67 and 67/68.
The CIAA has also sought the fines from them depending on the degree of the offense.

“The accused provided fake bills and false records of programs that were never conducted, acted against the existing law and caused huge amount of loss to the government for personal interest thereby creating an obstacle in the achievement of National Goal aimed at eliminating poverty,” reads the CIAA statement.
