CIAA chargesheets own staff for bribery

The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) on Monday filed a corruption case at the Special Court against two of its own officials and a health official of Parbat district on the charge of taking and giving bribe.

Issuing a press statement, the anti-corruption constitutional body said Programme Officer Bindod Amatya and Account Officer Toyanath Sharma of CIAA regional office in Pokhara were booked for receiving Rs 200,000 kickback from Chief of the Parbat District Health Office, Dr Narayan Ojha.

Ojha was also made a defendant in the case for paying the bribe as demanded by officials.

The two CIAA officials were caught red-handed while receiving the kickback from Ojha on January 13.

The Commission demanded that the Court slap maximum punishments against them as per Sections 3(1) and 3(1d) of Anti-Corruption Act, 2002.
