Christmas is an annual festival commemorating the birth of Jesus Christ.
Christmas is celebrated on December 25 every year and is a time for rejoicing and recalling Christ’s message of love‚ compassion‚ forgiveness and unity among people.
On the occasion, Christians gather at their respective churches and exchange greetings and offer prayers.
The government has declared a public holiday on the occasion.
People from other communities are also seen celebrating Christmas Day these days. It has become one of the big festivals in Nepal of late.
Exchanging gifts and making merry with friends and relatives has become common.
Shopping malls, hotels and restaurents in Thamel, Durbar Marg, have been decorated with electric lights and Christmas trees for the festival.
Meanwhile, President Ram Baran Yadav and Prime Minister Sushil Koirala extended wishes to all the Christians at home and abroad for peace, happiness and good health.
