KHOTANG: Lives of six children have gone catastrophic as their mother eloped with a second man after death of her husband, in Mauwabote-5 of Khotang district.
Children from the age of 6 to 14, Juna, Sudip, Sunil, Muna, Nikhil and Pujana are living hard lives after being left in the lurch by their parents.
Their father Hom Bahadur Rai alias Bhim (32) had died in Malaysia two years ago. Worsening crisis in the family, Bhim’s wife Harimaya eloped with a local recently.
Lal Bahadur Rai (73), grandfather of the children, has been looking after them.
Living with a partial disability, the septuagenarian is working as a daily wage earner for the family.
“Our grandfather is physically disabled,” said the eldest among children, 14-year-old, Juna, “We have completely fallen in crisis after our mother left us.”
Juna and her siblings have left school due to economic crisis after the mother’s elopement.
According to Chief District Officer Govinda Sapkota, “We have donated Rs 5,000 to the family.”
