A public awareness rally against corruption was organised in Butwal today to mark International Anti- Corruption Day.
People from various walks of life including professionals, social organisations’ representatives, human rights activists, students and journalist joined the rally organised by a local group fighting against corruption.
The rally that started from Jaycees Chowk concluded at the premises of Butwal Municipality office.
Addressing a gathering after the rally were the municipality’s executive officer Bhuwa Luitel, Human Rights and Peace Society’s chairperson of Rupandehi branch, Lalhari Pandey, Nepal Press Union’s president of Rupandehi branch Bikram Khadka, former chair of Nepal Bar Association Butwal Mahendra Pandey, advocate Krishna Pokhrel and Kiran BK. The common theme underlying all of their remarks was the need for cooperation between the government and people to curb corruption.
December 9 is observed internationally as Anti-Corruption Day.
