A meeting of three major political parties – Nepali Congress (NC), CPN-UML and UCPN-Maoist – called to discuss disputed issues of the constitution ended inconclusively yesterday.
The meeting was called by Chairperson of the Constitutional-Political Dialogue and Consensus Committee (CPDCC) of the Constituent Assembly (CA) Baburam Bhattarai in a bid to evolve consensus on key constitutional issues.
It has been learnt that the UCPN-Maoist leaders in the meeting proposed to set another deadline for the constitution promulgation, which ruling NC and UML rejected.
The ruling parties reiterated that the Constitution must be promulgated by CA’s self-imposed January 22 deadline.
They have agreed to meet again at the CPDCC meeting scheduled for 2 pm today.
