Banda demanding Tharuhat enters third day

Normal life in Bardiya has been hit hard due to an indefinite banda called by Tharuhat Struggle Committee on Thursday. The committee’s banda that enters its third day today is against the 6-state model agreement between the major four parties.

As a result, short and long distance transportation services, industries, businesses and educational institution have remained closed in Gulariya, Rajapur, Basgadi, Mainapokhar among other areas of the district.

Madhesi Jandhikar Forum- Lokrantrik, Tharuhat Tarai party Nepal, Tharu Kalyankari Shabha, Barghar Mahasangh, Nagar Barghar Gulariya, Tharu Bidhyarthi Pariwar and Nepal Adhibasi, Janajati Mahasangh Samanwaya Samiti had called for the general strike.

A large number of security personnel have been deployed to stop any untoward incident.

In Surkhet, youths have taken out a motorcycle rally demanding undivided mid-west.

Likewise, according to eKantipur correspondent Ganesh Chaudhary, a police constable, Sandip Batla has been injured when a stone thrown by protestors at the police vehicle hit him at Durgauli in Kailali.
