Australia-residing Nepalis support Sindhupalchok landslip victims

MELAMCHI: Nepalis living in Australia have provided the assistance of Rs 500,000 for the relief and rehabilitation of the victims of August 2 Mankha landslide and the Sunkoshi floods.

The fund was collected at the initiative of the Nepali Congress (NC). Engineer Narayan Kafle, on behalf of the Nepalese Democratic Forum, Australia, handed over a cheque of the amount to Deputy Prime Minister Prakash Man Singh at a programme today.

DPM Singh then handed over the cheque to Sindhupalchok Chief District Officer, Gopal Prasad Parajuli, who is also the Coordinator of District Natural Disaster Rescue Committee.

NC leader from Sindhupalchowk district, Taranath Dahal, had taken initiative to collect the assistance.

On the occasion, DPM Singh said the government has given top priority to the rehabilitation of the displaced people after the landslide in Mankha and the reconstruction of the infrastructures.
