It is still unsure whether the blocked Araniko Highway opens before Dashain.
Araniko Highway along landslide-hit Bansanghu of Sindhupalchok district is obstructed after the alternative tracks constructed by Nepal Army and local entrepreneurs were destroyed in the burst of the artificial lake on September 6.
A 2.5-km long stretch of the Highway was destroyed in the fatal landslide on August 2.
“Construction of alternative tracks has been stopped for some days,” said Sindhupalchok Chief District Officer (CDO) Gopal Prasad Parajuli, “Soon, it will resume again.”
Parajuli, however, did not comment on reasons for halting the construction works.
A belly breeze should be installed and another causeway should be constructed over the Sunkoshi River to link the alternative road being constructed by Nepal Army and the Araniko Highway, said Parajuli.
Meanwhile, a 20-metre road section of the highway along Phulpingkot VDC-7 of the district which was destroyed in the lake burst was constructed on Friday.
The highway that connects Nepali Capital to border with China has been obstructed since the August 2 landslide in Jure of the district.
