An evening with musical blend of Colombia and Nepal

The evening of August 1 at Hotel Soaltee Crowne Plaza will come alive with the sounds of Colombian music. Colombian musician, Carlos Balanta, better known as Baterimba, will perform for ministers, government officials, local artists and students pursuing music at Megha Hall in the Hotel.

Organized by the Embassy of Colombia in India and the Consulate of Colombia in Nepal, the event is being managed by JJ Sultans. The musical evening will be hosted by Monica Lazentta Mutis, Ambassador-Designate of Colombia to Nepal and Binaya Man Shrestha, Honorary Consul of Colombia.

Shrestha stated, “This event is an initiative to promote relations through cultural exchange between the two countries.”

Baterimba is known for his unique musical ensemble, which combines traditional marimba with drums, bells, cymbals and a pair of congas. He will also perform alongside percussionist Milesh Tandukar, who will be playing traditional Nepali instruments like dhime, madal, khein and damaru. This fusion of music will be the closing performance of the musically rich evening.

Audiences will also enjoy South American snacks and drinks toward the end of the evening.
