A lawmaker will be receiving Rs 124,000 as a monthly salary and allowances after the meeting of parliament on Sunday endorsed the bill to provide perks and facilities to the office-bearers and members of the federal parliament with amendments.
The bill was tabled by Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Ajaya Shankar Nayak.
Responding to the queries raised by the lawmakers during the discussion, Minister Nayak said that arrangements have been made to provide salaries and incentives to lawmakers on a timely manner.
As per the new provision, a lawmaker will receive Rs 55,230 salary, Rs 100 special allowance and Rs 500 meeting allowance each day, Rs 3,000 communication allowance, Rs 18,000 residential allowance and Rs 15,000 as furniture allowance.
Likewise, Rs 1,000 transportation allowance, Rs 2,500 daily allowance and Rs 2,000 allowance for water and electricity will be provided to a lawmaker.
The increased perks will be effective from the first month of the fiscal year.
