4 electrocuted, 7 injured after bus meets high-tension power line

At least four people were electrocuted to death and seven others severely injured after they received electric shocks when a high-tension power line touched people riding on hood of a bus here in Baluwa, Baramchi VDC-2 of the district on Sunday afternoon.

According to Ram Chandra Ghimire, an employee at Baramchi VDC, the incident took place at around 1 pm this afternoon.

The bus, Ba 2 Kha, 2702, was heading to Kattike from Kathmandu when the bus came in contact with a high tension power cable that was dangling along the road.

According to Ghimire, the deceased are Rekh Bahadur Syambo of Goltho-4, Bikash Tamang of Gumba-6, Manamaya Bhujel of Batase-3 and Sabina Syambo of Pangtang-8.

Among the injured, four have been ferried via an ambulance and others via motorbikes to Jalbire-based hospital for treatment.

DSP Deepak Kharel at the District Police office confirmed the incident. He, however, said that they are yet to get detail information about the incident.

A team of the police has been deputed top the incident site.
