4 die, over 30 passengers injured as buses collide

The death toll from the bus accident that took place on the Koshi Highway when two passenger buses collided head-on in Morang has reached four. Around 30 passengers of both the buses were injured.

The police have identified the deceased as, Arun Kumar Jha, 51, of Chinnamasta-8, Saptari, Tilthani Devi Mandal, of laukahi-7, Sunsari and and Sumitra Devi Singh, 61, of Bhimnagar, India. The indentity of the fourth victim is yet to be ascertained, said Assiatant Inspector of Police, Prabhu Prasad Dhakal.

The accident took place at Namuwa along the Koshi Highway when a bus ( Ko 1 Kha 4190) en route to Biratnagar from Udayapur and and another passenger bus ( Ko.1Kha. 3805) coming from the opposite direction, collided with each other at Biratnagar-Itahari road section of the highway.

Meanwhile, the injured passengers are undergoing treatment at Nobel medical college teaching hospital, Golden hospital and Neuro hospitals in Biratnagar, police said.
