The Metropolitan Crime Division (MCD), Teku on Friday arrested three men on the charge of running a coordinated extortion racket.
A special squad of MCD, Teku took hold of Satal Mahatara of Kalikot, Bikash Gurung and Netra Bahadir Sahi for their involvement in swindling 11 youths of their Rs 3,440,000, promising them with jobs in the Nepal Police.
According to the MCD, the racketeers have taken Rs 700,000 and Rs 500,000, promsing them (with) jobs of Police Inspector and Assistant Police Inspector respectively.
The police team has also recovered various documents including vacancy notice of Nepal Police and name list of 46 candidates selected for the posts.
The candidates had been instructed to deposit the amount at Gobal IME Bank AC 0807010008938 opened in the name of Ganga Prasad Neupane.
The arrested have been sent to the Metropolitan Police Range Office, Kathmandu for further action.
