At least 27 persons, including the drivers, were injured when two buses collided head-on along the Mahendra Highway on Thursday.
The drivers – Deepak Budha Magar and Raju Pariyar- are said to be critically injured, said SP Bikram Gurung.
The buses (Na 3 Kha 7875 and Lu 1 Kha 4036) collided at Charkhola nearby Chandrauta Bazaar. The vehicles were routed to Butwal of Rupandehi and Chandrauta of Kapilvastu respectively.
The drivers have been undergoing treatment at the Tilotama Hospital, Butwal whereas the injured passengers have been taken to local health facilities.
The buses collided because of over speeding, said police.
