24-hour ultimatum for transport fare adjustment

Thirteen different student organizations including the Nepal Students Union (NSU), All Nepalese National Free Students Union (ANNFSU) among others have exerted pressure on bodies concerned to adjust the transport fare following the fall in the price of petroleum products.

The student organizations have given 24-hour ultimatum to the authority concerned for the transport fare adjustment, said NSU Spokesperson, UP Lamicchane.

The organisations have also warned of launching protest programs if their demand was not addressed.

The Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC) has recently reduced the price of petrol by seven rupees and diesel by Rs 5.50. Now, the market price of petrol is Rs. 116 per litre and diesel is Rs 92 per liter.

Similarly, today´s meeting of the organisations has asked the Tribhuvan University to immediately implement the past agreement signed between the TU and the organizations regarding the semester system in TU. RSS
