Nirbhaya Manch is a unique foundation established to use music as an envoy to spread musical skills, self confidence and the power of information in up and coming female women musicians all around Nepal. These female musicians would in turn become the voices that raise the issues of child labour, trafficking, child marriage, domestic violence, harmful traditional practices, sexual violence against women and children etc.
‘Women in Concert’ is a platform for young aspiring female musicians to realize their talent and hone their skills. Since we don’t want this concert to be Kathmandu-centric we are also conducting workshops, auditions and training in Butwal and Pokhara for a start which will eventually translate to an open public concert for each region with other popular female singers of Nepal joining them on stage.
There are many hidden talents all over Nepal and we know that you would want to be part of discovering them.
Our foundation ‘Nirbhaya Manch’ is in need of some generous funds to conduct the regional series of ‘Women in Concert’ in Butwal and Pokhara. Auditions have to be conducted in both these places to select possible talents to get up on stage.
At 6:30 p.m. on the 18th of June we are conducting a small fundraiser to raise funds to start the project. The fundraiser will be held in Trisara , Lazimpat and will include
a). Short Haiku recitations by Chirag Bangdel who will also be our host for the evening,
b). Performances by Nattu Shah Buttowski, Suzie Que, Rakshaa Limbu , Kristina Allen who have participated in ‘Women in Concert’ before and
c). A small private power packed performance by Abhaya and the Steam Injuns
