Every summer, as the rains set in the valley, its time to celebrate the showers by making a celebration of the planting of rice (ropain). This year, we invite you to participate in this event at Bajrabarahi, in the southern outskirts of the valley. Things cannot get more local than this. The memories of this day will stay on! Guaranteed. Come participate in this ropain event, play with some mud, get a bit wet, and mingle with the local’est of local traditions in the Kathmandu valley, planting rice. Accompany this with a newari feast of sorts, and this makes for an excellent day out. Children are most welcome (and will enjoy the mud part the most!) Time      Program 09:30    Pick up from Kathmandu Durbar Square and transfer to Bajrabarahi  (25 km, 1 hours drive)*10:45    Moving  towards the field along with sightseeing and visit to Bajrabarahi temple11:15    Welcome drinks and briefing on paddy plantation and dress change11:45    Paddy plantation - Ropain13:45    Cool shower and dress change14:30    A typical Newari lunch with mixture of  yogurt and beaten rice16:30    Back to Kathmandu* you can choose to go in your own car.
