PHOTO KATHMANDU 2015

November 3, 2015 @ 10:00 am - November 9, 2015 @ 7:30 pm Add to Calendar   2015-11-03 10:00:00 2015-11-09 19:30:00 PHOTO KATHMANDU 2015 Photo Kathmandu, a new addition to the international photography festival circuit, will take place from 3-9 November 2015. The first edition of the festival aims to serve as a platform for interaction between photography, history, anthropology and a wide array of the arts. The festival will host exhibitions, slide shows, artist talks, workshops, portfolio reviews and other events, working primarily in public spaces in and around the historic city of Patan. A photograph, created in a fraction of a second, can embrace years and decades, and sometimes immeasurable expanses of time. Time that is gained or lost; time that records and repeats, challenges and celebrates. Time that is sometimes still and sometimes racing. The first edition of Photo Kathmandu is working with this central theme of TIME. Print exhibition feature works of Nepali and visiting photographers who have documented different periods of Nepali history over the past 6 decades. Photo Kathmandu is organized by photo.circle, a vibrant platform for photography founded in 2007. - - - - - EXHIBITIONS ▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀ All exhibitions are open to the public from 3-9 November BIND Photo Book Exhibition and Library by The Bind Collective Venue: Newa Chen, Kulimha | 10am-5pm Change Of Course by Prasiit Sthapit Venue: Chyasal | 10am-7pm Everyday Epiphanies by Frédéric Lecloux Venue: Dhaugal - South Wall | 10am-7pm Facing The Camera: A History of Nepali Studio Photography by Nepal Picture Library Venue: Keshav Narayan Chowk, Patan Museum | 10am-4pm History Begins at Home: Diverse Narratives of Young People Living in Kathmandu by Nepal Picture Library Venue: Adarsha Kanya Niketan School, Patan Durbar Square | 10am-7pm Hope for Tomorrow by Nicolas Marie and Swotha Community Venue: Swotha Square | 10am-7pm In the Shadow of Hope by Philip Blenkinsop Venue: Old Court House, Hakha | 10am-7pm Juju Bhai Dhakhwa: Keeper of Memories by Nepal Picture Library Venue: Dhakhwa House, Nagbahal | 12pm-4pm Living In The Mist – The Last Nomads of Nepal by Kishor Sharma Venue: Twilako Tol (Adarsha Kanya Niketan School - North Wall) | 10am-7pm North Fake by Maia Ruth Lee & Peter Sutherland Venue: Pim Bahal | 10am-7pm Patan Camera Obscura by Laura Diamond Dixit, Miku Dixit & Réne Fan Venue: Yala Guest House, Patan Durbar Square | 10am-5pm Patis in Patan by Christiane Brosius, Rajendra Shakya & Sujan Chitrakar Venues: Patan Durbar Square, Chyasal, Sundhara and Chakrabahil | 10am-7pm Portraits of Nepal by Kevin Bubriski Venue: Bhai Dega, Patan Durbar Square | 10am-7pm The 90s: A Democratic Awakening by Bikas Rauniar Venue: Dhaugal - East Wall | 10am-7pm Time Maps and Memories: The Sumitra Manandhar Gurung Collection by Nepal Picture Library Venue: ZYU, Swotha | 10am-7pm WE by Tuomo Manninen Venue: Mulchowk Entrance, Patan Museum | 10am-7pm - - - - - SCHEDULE ▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀ All events listed below except SLIDESHOWS take place at Yala Maya Kendra, Patan Dhoka; unless otherwise specified.
