Clean up Nepal 2015: Annual Nationwide Cleanup

September 19, 2015 @ 7:00 am - 11:00 am Add to Calendar   2015-09-19 07:00:00 2015-09-19 11:00:00 Clean up Nepal 2015: Annual Nationwide Cleanup Our annual nationwide cleanup is in its THIRD YEAR! Building on the success of our nationwide cleanups in 2013 and 2014, Clean up Nepal 2015 will be held in locations throughout Nepal on Saturday, 19 September 2015 from 7am to 11am. Clean up Nepal 2015 is affiliated to the Clean up the World campaign that engages an estimated 35 million volunteers in 130 countries each year. We extend an invitation to you and your organization to partner with us and actively participate in a cleanup in your neighborhood. With this event, Clean up Nepal aims to inspire and empower local communities, community groups, educational institutions, businesses, and local governments to join the clean up movement in order to address local environmental issues in a simple and visible way. Our annual nationwide cleanups are a demonstration of communities and groups all over Nepal leading the cleaning and maintenance of the environments they live, work and play in. It is quite simple– register as a local or national partner to facilitate mass cleanup events in your city. These joint visible, positive actions will influence and educate others in our communities and will provide inspiration to care for the environment. Reflecting on the recent Gorkha earthquake, Clean up Nepal will this year focus on temporary shelter sites as key locations for the cleanup in Kathmandu valley. As per recent data, there are 34 865 people living in tents in Bhaktapur, Kathmandu and Lalitpur at a total of 142 sites. A number of people have died from water borne diseases already. Our nationwide cleanups are supported every year by the Australian Embassy in Kathmandu and a growing number of organisations and groups throughout Nepal. What are you waiting for?
